For some of us, particularly if you have experienced some trauma in your life and/or are of a sensitive nature, emotions can sometimes come up really big and have you feeling as though you can’t cope or need to turn to ultimately unhelpful strategies like drinking, isolation, self-harm or impulsive behaviours. DBT is a therapy defined to teach skills and more helpful ways of managing emotions and coping when they come up big. This is a “working” book, with lots of exercises and self reflection.

This book is also a DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) primer. It’s written for teenagers, but it’s so clear and simple I happen to think it’s great for adults too.
